Newark City Trails

A network of trails connecting Newark to the Granville - Johnstown trails on the west and the Panhandle trail on the east.

Trail Maps and Information

Newark's western trails begin at the YMCA on west Church St. where they split into a north branch, running to the OSU-N/COTC campus, the Rotary Pavillion and Playgroung, the Ice Arena, and the NASA soccer fields.

The western branch follows SR 16 to the Cherry Valley Lodge and connects to the Granville trail, with parking on Cherry Valley Rd.

A study was recently completed which examined options to connect the western trail, ending at the YMCA, to the eastern/Panhandle trail which begins on East Main St. To see the study, click here

A downtown Newark walking map is available here.

The eastern trail section includes a 1.6 mile path that follows the Licking River from Ohio Street to Manning Street, passing though Everett Park.

The main eastern trail begins at the corner of Morris St. and E. Main St. This section is referred to as the Panhandle Trail, which continues east for 9.8 miles.
